SANTIAGO
Metallic guitar riffs punch through layers of synths and keyboard stabs, with pounding drums and bass lines forming the firm foundations of many a Santiago song. What makes them unique is the emotional and emphatic vocals of lead singer Luke, and the quick, sharp vocals of lead guitarist Matias when he steps up to take lead duties. It would be all too easy to compare Santiago to the usual suspects for indie bands these days, however the band themselves draw influences from a number of different sources and like to be thought of as bringing a new and unique sound to indie and alternative rock music.

Santiago started off as something to fill boring weekends with between synth player Alex and drummer Colin, before they started to take things more seriously and introduced two other members, Matias and Luke, on vocals and guitars. Luke had written some ideas and soon they were jammed into songs, and as a band things started to take shape nicely.
Santiago formed fully in October 2005 with the inclusion of bass player Katy. They practised and wrote songs tirelessly for months, before playing their first gig at a school for a charity event. This paved the way for a number of very successful local gigs and the start of them becoming a small local live favourite.
Santiago are currently writing new material, recording songs for a debut release and started a campaign of gigging in September '06, around the North East of England.
