» I Did It Out Of Interest
The reason I made this website template is: I noticed that so many unsigned bands have an opening page that contains just an image of the band with an "Enter Here" link, and that's it. The page is basically empty! I assume this is a trend set by well known bands and followed by the rest, but, only a famous band can afford this type of page. It is incredibly expensive - in terms of numbers of visitors - for a young unsigned band. My advice is to put a blog or the band's news on the opening page, if you can code by hand (which would be handy if you use this website template), you can D.I.Y. like I am here and now. Right click on your mouse, and choose View Source, you'll see what I've been typing.

This is the opening (index.html) page of a sixteen page website template, you are welcome to copy the pages and adapt them for your own use. The images belong to Menendez and are copyright protected. The website has been designed especially for unsigned bands to maximise their online promotion chances. It has nothing to do with a band's image, the image part is up to you. As you can see it's just grey on black; the colours, fonts and layout etc.., can be altered by you in the cascading style sheet and the html code.

Images improve a website. This website is pretty well devoid of images, not because I don't like them, but because that part is up to you. Keep your images small so they load quickly, offer a 100X100 thumbnail image with a link to the full sized image. Aim for the page to download in under five seconds at 56K. Image does matter, but you might be surprised to know that it's not the most important thing on a band's website; content is. Biography, Contact Details, Gig Listings, Downloads and Press Pack are what the music industry are looking for.
